• Charles Ross set a school record by rushing for five touchdowns to lead the Owls to a 52-14 win in 2013 at Rice Stadium in the Owl's most recent win in the series.
• The series began in 1966 at Rice Stadium with a 14-0 Rice win that later became more notable as the college debut of Phil Robertson of "Duck Dynasty" fame.

Rice has closed out 10 of the last 13 home schedules with a win, sending the respective senior classes out with a win. The Owls won nine consecutive home finales from 2008-2016 before North Texas defeated Rice 30-14 on Senior Day in 2017. The Owls are 53-52-2 all-time in home finales. (Note, the Owls did not play a home game in their first season of play in 1912).
Interior Defense
Super Senior DT Elijah Garcia is tied for the team lead with a career-best 60 tackles and leads the team with 27 total quarterback pressures per PFF (sacks, hits, and hurries). His 60 tackles this year are the most by an Owls interior defender since 1992 when Matt Sign was credited with 66 in 11 games in 1992. Garcia has 183 career tackles in 50 games, the most of any active interior defender in C-USA as is his 60 tackles this year.
