Owls Compete at FSU Invite/Pre-Nationals Meet

Final performance before C-USA Championships
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Rice Owls men's cross country team placed 35th overall out of 40 teams in the Garnet race at Friday morning's prestigious FSU Pre-Nationals Meet, hosted by Florida State. The meet consisted of nearly 600 runners across two different races and involved many of the top-ranked teams in the country.
Rice was led by senior Hociel Landa, who scored 131st with a time of 24:29 in the 8k race. Alex Topini (24:38), Travis Dowd (24:57), Elliot Metcalf (25:10) and Andrew Abikhaled (25:15) finished in that order behind Landa. Northern Arizona won the meet with 64 points, followed by Colorado (128) and Arkansas (128).
The Owls will next set their eyes on the Conference USA Championship, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Charlotte, N.C. at 8 a.m. (CT).
