Face LSU on the road next Sunday
In Brief: After a three hour delay to allow the courts to dry, Rice jumped out early and never looked back to take a 4-0 win over Louisiana on Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
The Details: Michaela Haet and Federica Trevisan improved to 3-0 on the season by racing to a 6-0 win at the second doubles line and Maria Budin and Diae El Jardi followed moments later with a 6-1 win to clinch the first point. The Owls carried over the momentum into singles, capturing all six first sets while losing only 10 games. Anna Bowtell opened the scoring in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the fourth line and she was followed by Maria Budin and Federica Tevisan, who lost a combined six games to clinch the match.
Elizabeth Schmidt: "It's early in the season and we have a lot of things we are working on, but I thought they did a good job of coming out with intensity in their play. We got quick starts in doubles and again in singles. We came out with a purpose and played some good tennis."
Up Next: The Owls (2-1) will join with the men to take on LSU in Baton Rouge on Sunday. First serves are set for noon.
