Owls Host Blazers on ESPN3
Entering play as one of the hottest teams in the country, the Conference USA-leading Rice Owls women's basketball team will put their nine-game winning streak on the line Thursday vs. UAB. Rice's nine consecutive wins is tied for the 15th-longest active win streak in the NCAA. The Owls are 34-2 at home over the last 2.5 seasons and haven't dropped a C-USA home contests since Mar. 1, 2018. UAB has reeled off six straight wins and sits tied for third place in the conference standings. The Owls won their lone meeting with the Blazers last season, a 55-43 victory in Birmingham.

The Blazers enter play Thursday as one of the most elite three-point shooting teams in the NCAA. UAB ranks second in three-point percentage (41.2%) and fifth in three-pointers made (209). In addition, UAB ranks 10th in the country in free throws made (330) and 13th in field goal percentage (46.2). During league play UAB has been led in scoring by senior guard Rachael Childress (17.2 ppg) and senior guard Miyah Barnes (13.0 ppg).

The Owls have the fourth-longest active conference win streak in the country dating back to 2018, having won 28 straight league contests. Only UConn (144), Baylor (50) and FGCU (37) have won more consecutive conference games than the Owls. The 28 consecutive wins is also the longest conference winning streak in league history. Rice is defeating their C-USA opponents this season by an average of 15 points per game. The Owls haven't lost to a C-USA opponent in a span of 707 days dating back to 2018.
