Men’s Hoops Hosts Middle Tennessee in Bonus Play Home Opener

HOUSTON — Rice will try to get back in the win column this Sunday, Mar. 1, when it hosts Middle Tennessee. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT and the game will be livestreamed by CUSAtv.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters Sunday's game with a 13-15 record, including 5-10 in Conference USA. The Owls look to get back in the win column after falling at UTEP last Saturday, 68-62.
• Sophomore Trey Murphy III leads the Owls with 13.2 points per game and is third with 5.6 rebounds and a 36.6% three-point field goal percentage. He is also fifth in the league in three-pointers made per game (2.5).
• Senior Robert Martin is second on the team with 11.4 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game.
• Senior Ako Adams is third on the team with 11.2 points per game and second with 2.5 assists per game while leading the team with a 38.8% three-point field goal percentage, which is ninth in Conference USA. He is also fourth in the league in three-pointers made per game (2.6).
• Sophomore Drew Peterson is fourth on the team in scoring (10.4) and leads the team and is eighth in C-USA with 6.7 rebounds per game. He is also ninth in assists per game (3.3) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3).
• Redshirt junior Josh Parrish is averaging 7.9 points on the year, but 11.2 points per game in conference play. He also leads the league in field goal percentage during conference play, connecting on 68.0% from the field.
• Rice is averaging 73.8 points while allowing 74.6.
• The Owls are connecting on 43.3% from the floor and 34.0% from three while allowing their opponents to connect on 45.5% from the field but just 32.7% from three.
• Rice's opponents are outrebounding the Owls, 36.5-to-36.1 but the Owls lead the conference and are 14th in the country in three-pointers made per game (9.9).
• The Owls are also third in Conference USA in assists with 14.0 per game.
• Head coach Scott Pera is in his third season leading the Rice men's basketball program, where he holds a record of 33-58.

• Middle Tennessee enters Sunday's contest with a 7-21 record, including 3-12 in Conference USA. The Blue Raiders are looking for their second straight win after snapping a four-game losing streak at Southern Miss last Saturday, 61-53.
• Redshirt junior guard C.J. Jones leads the team and is fifth in the conference in scoring with 16.4 points per game. He is also tied for second in the league in free throw percentage (87.5%), is fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.405) and sixth in three-pointers made per game (2.5).
• Redshirt senior guard Antonio Green is second on the team with 12.9 points per game. He is also seventh in C-USA in free throw percentage (84.5%) and three-pointers made per game (2.4).
• Junior guard Donovan Sims is third on the team with 9.2 points per game and fourth in the conference with 1.6 steals per game and a 1.4 assist/turnover ratio. He's also eighth in the league with 3.4 assists per game.
• Middle Tennessee is scoring 71.6 points per game while allowing 76.2.
• The Blue Raiders are connecting on 42.3% from the floor and 33.8% from three while allowing their opponents to connect on 47.0% from the field and 37.9% from three.
• Middle Tennessee is pulling down 35.2 rebounds per game while allowing 36.5.
• Head coach Nick McDevitt is in his second season at the helm of the Middle Tennessee men's basketball program where he owns an 18-42 (.300) record. In seven seasons as a head coach, McDevitt holds a 116-108 (.518) record.
