Bowtell Earns C-USA Weekly Honor

Conference USA as the Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week
Rice junior Anna Bowtell has been honored by Conference USA as the Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week after extending her winning streak in singles with a pair of wins last week.
Bowtell improved her dual singles record to 7-1 on the season and extended her winning streak to six matches by posing straight set wins in duals with Texas State and 40th ranked LSU last weekend. She posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Andrea Fuchs of Texas State on Friday and then downed LSU's Paris Corely 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday. Over past three matches, she has lost just 12 games in six sets of singles.
The Owls will continue their current homestand at the George R. Brown Tennis Center this week with matches against UTSA at 1 p.m. on Friday and 18th ranked Baylor at 11 a.m. on Sunday, part of a combined dual with the Rice men who will host SMU.
