Men’s Hoops Looks to Rebound Against Charlotte on Senior Day

HOUSTON — Rice will host its 2020 Senior Day this Saturday, Feb. 15, looking to get back in the win column when it hosts Charlotte. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT and the game will be livestreamed by ESPN+.
Senior Day
• Prior to the game, Rice will recognize graduate student Tommy McCarthy and seniors Ako Adams, Tim Harrison, Robert Martin and Addison Owen.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters Saturday afternoon's contest with a 12-14 record, including 4-9 in Conference USA. The Owls had their three-game winning streak snapped on Thursday, falling to Old Dominion, 73-70.
• Sophomore Trey Murphy III leads the Owls with 13.6 points per game and is third with 5.7 rebounds and a 36.8% three-point field goal percentage. He is also fifth in the league in three-pointers made per game (2.6).
• Senior Ako Adams is second on the team with 11.4 points per game and 2.5 assists per game while leading the team with a 39.1% three-point field goal percentage, which is seventh in Conference USA. He also leads the league in free throw percentage (89.8%) and is fourth in three-pointers made per game (2.6).
• Senior Robert Martin is third on the team with 11.3 points per game and second with 5.7 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore Drew Peterson is fourth on the team in scoring (9.8) and leads the team and is ninth in C-USA with 6.5 rebounds per game. He is also seventh in assist/turnover ratio (1.4) and tied for eighth in assists (3.3).
• Redshirt junior Josh Parrish is averaging 7.9 points on the year, but 11.6 points per game in conference play. He also leads the league in field goal percentage during conference play, connecting on 68.9% from the field.
• Rice is averaging 74.4 points while allowing 75.7.
• The Owls are connecting on 43.4% from the floor and 34.3% from three while allowing their opponents to connect on 46.0% from the field but just 32.4% from three.
• Rice's opponents are outrebounding the Owls, 37.0-to-35.7 but the Owls lead the conference and are 12th in the country in three-pointers made per game (10.0).
• The Owls are also third in Conference USA in assists with 14.1 per game.

• Charlotte enters Saturday afternoon's contest with a 14-10 record, including 8-5 in Conference USA. The 49ers saw their two-game winning streak snapped on Thursday, falling 81-72 at North Texas.
• Redshirt junior guard Jordan Shepherd leads the team and is 10th in the conference in scoring with 14.2 points per game. He is also third in the league in with 4.2 assists per game.
• Freshman guard Jahmir Young is second on the team with 12.5 points per game and 3.0 assists per game while tying for fifth in C-USA with 1.6 steals per game.
• Graduate student guard Drew Edwards is third on the team with 10.7 points per game and sophomore guard Malik Martin is averaging 10.9 points while placing fifth in Conference USA in three-point field goal percentage (39.2%) and ninth in steals (1.5).
• Charlotte is scoring 68.5 points per game while allowing just 65.0.
• The 49ers are connecting on 46.4% from the floor and 43.9% from three, which are second and third, respectively, in Conference USA. They are allowing their opponents to connect on 43.9% from the field and 31.7% from three.
• Charlotte is outrebounding the opposition, 31.9-to-31.4.
