Men’s Hoops Returns Home on Three-Game Winning Streak; Hosts Old Dominion

HOUSTON — Coming off its first road conference sweep since 2017, Rice will go for its fourth-straight victory this Thursday, Feb. 13, when it hosts Old Dominion. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be livestreamed by the ESPN+.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters Thursday night's contest with a 12-13 record, including 4-8 in Conference USA. The Owls are trying for their second four-game winning streak of the season after defeating Middle Tennessee last Saturday, 91-83.
• Sophomore Trey Murphy III leads the Owls with 13.8 points per game and is second with 5.6 rebounds and a 37.9% three-point field goal percentage. He is also fourth in the league in three-pointers made per game (2.6).
• Senior Robert Martin is second on the team with 11.3 points per game and third with 5.6 rebounds per game.
• Senior Ako Adams is third on the team with 11.0 points per game and is second with 2.5 assists per game while leading the team with a 39.5% three-point field goal percentage, which is sixth in Conference USA. He is also third in the league in free throw percentage (89.1%) and fifth in three-pointers made per game (2.6).
• Sophomore Drew Peterson is fourth on the team in scoring (10.0) and leads the team and is 10th in C-USA with 6.4 rebounds per game. He is also fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.5) and ninth in assists (3.4).
• Redshirt junior Josh Parrish is averaging 7.8 points on the year, but 11.8 points per game in conference play. He also leads the league in field goal percentage during conference play, connecting on 68.2% from the field.
• Rice is averaging 74.6 points while allowing 75.8.
• The Owls are connecting on 43.7% from the floor and 34.9% from three while allowing their opponents to connect on 46.1% from the field and 32.9% from three.
• Rice's opponents are outrebounding the Owls, 36.7-to-35.6 but the Owls lead the conference and are 12th in the country in three-pointers made per game (10.0).
• The Owls are also tied for second in Conference USA in assists with 14.3 per game.
• Head coach Scott Pera is in his third season leading the Rice men's basketball program. He holds a record of 32-56.

• Old Dominion enters Thursday's contest with a 10-15 record, including 6-6 in Conference USA. The Monarchs are coming off a 72-53 victory over UTEP last Saturday.
• Redshirt junior guard Xavier Green leads the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game. He is also second in assists (2.6) and fourth in rebounds (4.6).
• Redshirt sophomore guard A.J. Oliver II is second on the team with 12.3 points per game and a 34.5% three-point field goal percentage.
• Junior guard Malik Curry is third on the team with 12.1 points per game and is second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (1.9) and seventh in assists (3.7).
• Sophomore guard Jason Wade is averaging 10.9 points. He is first in the league and fifth in the country in steals per game (2.6) and seventh in the league in field goal percentage (56.2%).
• Redshirt senior forward Aaron Carver leads Conference USA with 10.2 rebounds per game.
• Old Dominion is scoring 65.0 points per game while allowing 64.6.
• The Monarchs are connecting on just 40.3% from the floor and 28.1% from three while allowing their opponents to connect on just 40.1% from the field, which is second in the conference, and 33.5% from three.
