Men’s Hoops Concludes Homestand against FIU

HOUSTON — Rice closes its homestand this Saturday, Jan. 11 when it hosts FIU. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT and the game will be livestreamed by ESPN+.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters Saturday afternoon's contest with an 8-8 record, including 0-3 in Conference USA. The Owls are looking to snap a four-game losing streak after falling to Florida Atlantic, 81-76, Thursday night.
• Sophomore Trey Murphy III leads the Owls with 13.3 points per game and 1.2 steals per game while placing third in rebounds (5.6). He is also third in the league in three-pointers made per game (2.5).
• Senior Robert Martin is second on the team with 11.5 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore Drew Peterson is third on the team in scoring (10.8) and leads the team and is seventh in C-USA with 6.6 rebounds per game. He also leads the team in assists (3.3), which is good for 10th in the league, and is seventh in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5).
• Senior Ako Adams is fourth on the team with 10.5 points per game and second with 2.2 assists per game. He is also third in Conference USA in free throw percentage (89.1%) and tied for ninth with in three-pointers made per game (2.1) while leading the team in three-point field goal percentage (36.8%).
• Rice is averaging 73.5 points while allowing 74.6.
• The Owls are connecting on 42.1% from the floor and 32.9% from three while allowing their opponents to connect on 44.9% from the field but just 31.2% from three.
• Rice's opponents are outrebounding the Owls, 38.3-to-37.1 but the Owls are third in the conference in three-pointers made per game (9.3).
• Head coach Scott Pera is in his third season leading the Rice men's basketball program. He holds a record of 28-51.

• FIU enters today's contest with an 11-5 record, including 2-1 in Conference USA. The Panthers have won eight of their last 10 games despite falling at North Texas, 74-56, Thursday night.
• Redshirt senior forward Devon Andrews leads the Panthers and is fourth in the conference in scoring with 16.7 points per game while placing second on the team with 5.2 rebounds per game.
• Senior forward Osasumwen Osaghae is second on the team with 12.8 points per game. He leads the league in field goal percentage, connecting on 67.5% from the field and is third in the league in rebounding, pulling down 8.4 boards a game. Osaghae also leads the country in blocks with 68.
• Senior guard Trejon Jacob is third on the team with 11.1 points per game and is tied for sixth in C-USA in steals per game with 1.8.
• Sophomore guard Antonio Daye, Jr. is averaging 9.5 points per game while leading Conference USA with 5.0 assists per game and placing fourth with 2.1 steals per game.
• FIU is scoring a league-high 80.4 points per game while allowing 72.4.
• The Panthers are connecting on 46.3% from the floor while holding its opponents to 3.9.3%. FIU is second in the league in three-point field goal percentage (36.2%) while holding its opponents to a league-low 27.0% from three.
