HOUSTON - For the first time since 1995, the Rice Owls volleyball team will welcome the Texas Longhorns to Tudor Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Sept. 18 with first serve scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Rice (9-1) returns home following a four-match road trip that saw them go 3-1. The No. 3 Longhorns (5-1) won both their matched last weekend, defeating No. 13 BYU (3-1) and Wichita St. (3-0).
Texas leads the all-time series over Rice 36-0, with the last meeting coming in 2015 at Gregory Gym in Austin.

NOTES
- The Owls are receiving 21 votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll.
- Rice is playing some of the best team defense in the country, limiting opponents to a .143 hitting percentage, which ranks sixth in the NCAA. Rice is also 11th in the nation in digs per set (17.89).
- Junior outside hitter Nicole Lennon was named the C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, her third consecutive weekly league honor. Lennon currently leads all of C-USA and ranks sixth in the NCAA in total kills (173) and is 11th in the nation in kills per set (5.09). Lennon also ranks top-20 nationally in total points (11th-182.0), total attacks (14th-428), attacks per set (16th-12.59) and points per set (17th-5.35). Earlier this season, Lennon became the 17th player in Rice history to eclipse 1,000 career kills.
- Senior libero Lee Ann Cunningham ranks 27th in the nation in total digs (179) and is 40th in the NCAA in digs per set (5.11). Cunningham is one of three Owls, including Tabitha Brown (14th) and Lennon (16th), to rank in the top-20 in C-USA in total digs.
- Sophomore middle blocker Anota Adekunle ranks fourth in C-USA in hitting percentage (.395) while senior middle blocker Grace Morgan is seventh (.374).
- Coming off a season in which they swept the Conference USA regular season and tournament titles, the Owls were picked to defend their reign as champions according to the 2019 C-USA Preseason Poll.
- Rice placed three players on the 12-person Preseason All-Conference Team, Lennon, Grace Morgan and Anota Adekunle each earned a spot.
- Reigning C-USA Coach of the Year Genny Volpe is in her 16th season with the Owls and is the school's all-time leader in totals wins (295) and winning percentage (.622). She notched her eighth, 20-plus win season for the Owls in 2018.
