Rice Ends Regular Season with Senior Day Against Charlotte

HOUSTON — Rice closes the regular season this Saturday, Mar. 9, when it faces Charlotte for the second straight game on Senior Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live by CUSAtv.

Scouting Rice
• Rice is 13-17 overall and 8-9 in Conference USA. The Owls have won three straight games after defeating Charlotte on Wednesday, 79-70.
• Rice has four players averaging at least nine points, led by freshman guard Chris Mullins with 12.3. He also leads the team in steals with 1.2.
• Junior forward Robert Martin is second on the team with 11.9 points and 6.4 rebounds. He is connecting on 46.1% from the field and is fifth in the league in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 41.5% from behind the arc.
• Junior guard Ako Adams is third on the team with 11.4 points per game. He is connecting on 39.3% from three, good for 10th in the league while leading the team with 2.6 assists per game. He also leads Conference USA in free throw percentage, connecting on 90.3% from the line.
• Graduate student Jack Williams is scoring 9.3 points while leading the squad with 7.8 rebounds, good for fifth in the league.
• Freshman guard Trey Murphy III is scoring 8.3 points per game and is seventh in C-USA in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 41.1%.
• The Owls are scoring 74.4 points but are allowing 77.4.
• Rice is connecting on 42.9% from the field and 34.9% from three. It is allowing its opponents to connect on 44.5% from the floor and 34.1% from three.
• The Owls are outrebounding their opponents, 38.6-to-36.5. However, in conference play, Rice is leading the league in rebounding with 40.4 boards per game.
• Head coach Scott Pera is in his second season leading the Rice men's basketball program.

Scouting Charlotte
• Charlotte enters the game with a 7-21 record overall and 4-13 in Conference USA. The 49ers have dropped nine of their last 11 games after falling to Rice on Wednesday.
• Senior guard Jon Davis is the only 49er averaging double-digits with 21.5 points, which is second in Conference USA. He is also second in the league in minutes played (37.0), third in free throw percentage (86.3%) and eighth in assists (3.7) and three-point field goals made per game (2.5).
• Freshman guard Malik Martin is second on the team with 9.2 points
• Sophomore forward Milos Supica is averaging 7.8 points while leading the team with 4.8 rebounds.
• Charlotte is scoring just 60.6 points per game while allowing 68.6.
• The 49ers are connecting on just 41.2% from the floor and 31.0% from three while their opponents are hitting 43.9% from the field and 35.7% from three.
• Charlotte is being outrebounded by its opponents, 33.0-to-30.5.
• The 49ers lead C-USA in free throw percentage, connecting on 74.5% from the charity stripe.
• Head coach Ron Sanchez is in his first season at the helm of the Charlotte men's basketball program where he owns a 7-21 (.250) record.

• Rice and Charlotte will meet for the second straight game, the third time this year and the 11th time overall.
