Men’s Hoops Begins Two-Game Road Trip at Northwestern State

HOUSTON — Rice plays the first of two straight road games this Tuesday, Nov. 12 when it travels to Natchitoches, La., to face Northwestern State. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the game will be livestreamed by DemonTV.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters today's game with a 2-1 record after defeating Wayland Baptist on Sunday, 65-40.
• Sophomore Trey Murphy III leads the Owls with 11.0 points per game and 1.7 blocks per game, which is eighth in Conference USA. He is also third on the team in rebounds, pulling down 5.3 rebounds per game.
• Senior Ako Adams is second on the team with 10.0 points per game and leads the team in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 35.7%.
• Freshman Quincy Olivari is third on the team with 8.7 points per game.
• Freshman Max Fiedler is averaging 6.7 points and is leading the squad with 8.3 rebounds per game and sophomore Drew Peterson is second on the team with 7.0 rebounds per game.
• Rice is averaging 62.7 points while allowing just 64.0.
• The Owls are connecting on 38.8% from the floor and 24.7% from three while allowing their opponents to connect on 41.0% from the field but just 25.4% from three, which is second in the league.

• Northwestern State enters Tuesday night's contest with a 1-1 record after falling to Texas A&M, 77-63, on Nov. 6.
• Freshman guard Nikos Chougkaz leads the Demons with 11.0 points and is second on the team with 5.0 rebounds per game.
• Junior guard Jairus Roberson is second on the team with 10.5 points per game.
• Senior guard LaTerrance Reed is averaging 9.5 points per game while tying for fifth in the Southland Conference in three-point field goal percentage, along with senior guard Jacob Guest at 40.0%
• Redshirt junior forward Chudier Bile is tied for fifth in the Southland in both rebounds per game (8.5) and blocks per game (1.5).
• Sophomore guard Brian White is fourth in the league in assists per game with 5.0 while placing second in assist-to-turnover ratio (10.0).
• Northwestern State is averaging 73.5 points per game while allowing 67.0.
• NSU is connecting on 42.7% from the floor and 33.3% from three while holding its opponents to 44.3% from the floor and just 24.5% from beyond the arc, good for second in the Southland Conference.

• Rice and Northwestern State will meet for the fourth straight year and just the ninth time overall.
• Rice has won the eight seven meetings.
• Last year, Rice defeated the Demons, 102-74, in Houston.
• Rice's 8-0 mark against the Demons is it's the longest active unbeaten streak without a loss against a Division I opponent.
• This will be just the second meeting in Natchitoches. The Owls won the first meeting, 87-65, on Nov. 17, 2017. It was head coach Scott Pera's first career victory.
