ITA DI Texas Women's Regional Championship
The Lede: Anna Bowtell and Diae El Jardi each won twice while second seed Michaela Haet and fourth seed Victoria Smirnova won their only matches on the first day of the 2019 ITA Texas Regional Championships at Texas A&M's Mitchell Tennis Complex on Thursday.
The Details: El Jardi won a pair of matches in straight sets while Bowtell had to shake off a first set loss in her opening match to advance in three sets over Houston's Phonexay Chitdara. Rice freshman Maria Budin picked up a win in her opening match before falling in three sets in the second round.
