Smirnova's All-American Run Ends in Round of 32

The Lede: Anastasia Smirnova extended the eighth ranked singles player in the country to a third set tiebreaker before seeing her dynamic week of tennis come to a close in the Round of 32 at the 2019 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Thursday.
The Details: Facing Anna Rogers of North Carolina State, who earned All-America honors as a sophomore last year, Smirnova bounced back from a loss in the first set to take the second after the match was moved indoors due to rain. The two battled evenly through 12 games in the deciding third set before Rogers took the match with a 7-2 win in the tiebreak. Smirnova finished the tournament with a 6-1 record, including three wins over ranked opponents. She finished her freshman year with a 1-2 mark vs. ranked players. Michaela Haet dropped her match to Oklahoma's Martina Capurro to close out the tournament for the Owls.
