
Hodge Named to Academic All-America At-Large team

Lindsey Hodge capped her standout career with the Rice women's tennis team on Thursday when she was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Women's At-Large team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hodge, who was named to the second team, is the third Rice women's tennis player to earn the Academic All-America accolades, joining Justyna Gudzowska (1999) and Blair DiSesa (2006).
She graduated from Rice with a 4.02 GPA in sport management with a business minor at Rice and was a two-time Conference USA All-Academic honoree. She earned the ITA Women's Scholar Athlete Award three years in a row,was a four-time C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal honoree and has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll four times. Hodge earned a spot on the Rice President's Honor Roll five times, and served as Rice's SAAC President during the 2017-18 academic year.
On the court, Hodge was the Owls primary player at the first position in both singles and doubles the past three years and was a first team all-conference selection in both singles and doubles three times in her career. She was twice honored as the Outstanding Doubles of the C-USA Championship (2015, 2017) as well as Outstanding Singles of the 2017 Championship and led Rice to three C-USA titles and four NCAA appearances.
The at-large teams for the Google Cloud Academic All-America® program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, field hockey and rowing for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.
No less than 41 of the 45 members of the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Women's At-Large Team achieved at least a 3.90 GPA, with 35 student-athletes compiling a 4.00 GPA (or better) during their undergraduate and/or graduate careers. The 15 members of the first team recorded a 3.99 average GPA.
