
Owls Distance Runners Lead the Way

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore Adolfo Carvalho won his third 3000m steeplechase competition of the outdoor season with a first place effort of 9:18.48 to lead the Owls in their final tune-up weekend before next week's C-USA Championships.
In addition to Carvalho, Matthew Murray placed second overall (3:46.51) in the 1500m while Alex Topini (3:46.51) and Matt Calem (3:53.40) set season-best times in the same event.
Back in Houston, thrower Dane Stolsig set a season-best mark of 61.16m (200-08) to win the javelin and Uche Ugwunze placed second in the shot put (17.34m/56-10.75).
Senior All-American Austin Riddle had a big day as well, as the top collegiate thrower in the hammer throw (66.35m/217-08) and a second place finish (51.74m) in the discus.
The Owls will host the C-USA Championships, beginning on Thursday, May 10.
