
Golf in 13th Heading into Final Round of Maridoe Intercollegiate

Benson leads the Owls in 11th-place
Carrollton, Texas — Rice golf is in 13th-place at 58-over par heading into the final round of the Maridoe Intercollegiate, played at the par-70, 7,043-yard Maridoe Golf Club.
Sophomore Jake Benson moved up 20 spots into a tie for 11th-place at six-over par after carding a 71. Senior Grant Rogers posted a 74 to sit in a tie for 39th-place at 13-over par.
Sophomore Rishi Kejriwal is tied for 64th-place at 19-over par after carding a 78. Junior Nicholas Duggan shot an 81 to sit in a tie for 68th-place (+21) and freshman Harrison Hineline is in 71st-place at 22-over par after posting an 82.
"The conditions on the course were tougher and the guys played a little better," said Rice head coach Justin Emil. "We were one round away from making a big move today."
SMU leads the tournament at 15-over par, 10 strokes in front of North Texas. North Florida's Phillip Knowles leads the individual tournament at even par, two strokes in front of SMU's McClure Meissner and Ben Wong.
Rice tees off in the final round tomorrow at 8 a.m. CT. The Owls are paired with student-athletes from Boise State and various individuals.
