Collins Blast Highlights Owl Offense
The outing was the first of two exhibitions the Owls are scheduled to play during the program's Fall training program under new head coach Matt Bragga. The event was scheduled to go 12 innings to maximize game-like conditions for as many players as possible in the off-season. The score of the exhibition was tied 5-5 after nine complete innings.
A total of nine different Rice pitchers saw action on the night and no hurler (for either team) went more than 2.0 innings. Junior right-hander Addison Moss started for the Blue & Gray and struck out four of the ten batters he faced in 2.0 innings. On the offensive side, seven different Owls combined for eight hits. Sophomore Trei Cruz went 2-for-5 and scored a run.
Coach Bragga has scheduled two exhibitions for the Fall. The second exhibition is slated for Oct. 26 at Reckling Park vs. longtime rival Texas A&M. A box score from Friday's exhibition is available at the above pdf link.
