Rice Set to Co-Host the Bayou City Collegiate Classic

HOUSTON—After a month off, Rice will cohost the inaugural Bayou City Collegiate Classic, played at the par 72, 7,272-yard Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland.
Co-hosting the event with the Owls are Houston and Sam Houston State. Abilene Christian, Denver, Houston Baptist, Kansas, Lamar, McNeese State, North Texas, Southern Miss, Texas State, Tulsa and UTSA will also participate.
"We have had a long break since our first tournament and the guys are ready to get back into some competition," said head coach Justin Emil. "It's great to be able to play a tournament on a course we are very familiar with and that's so close to home. The field is strong so we have our work cut out of us. It's going to be a lot of fun seeing this lineup compete. After this week we have two more tournaments back to back, so this week is a great opportunity to build some momentum as we close out the fall season."
James Lee will lead the Owls in the No. 1 position. The Albuquerque, N.M., native tied for 36th-place at the season-opening Sam Hall Intercollegiate. He has a stroke average of 72.33 on the year.
Jay Burlison gets his first career spot in the starting lineup, teeing off in the No. 2 position. The sophomore tied for 36th-place at the season-opening Sam Hall Intercollegiate. He has a stroke average of 72.33 on the year.
In the No. 3 position will be Mario Carmona. The sophomore tied for 36th-place at the season-opening Sam Hall Intercollegiate. He has a stroke average of 72.33 on the year.
Kevin Reilly will tee off in the No. 4 position. The junior is averaging 74.00 strokes per round. In the No. 5 position will be Alex Levy. The junior is averaging 74.33 strokes this year.
Freshman Will Voetsch and senior Trey Johnson will compete as individuals. The duo are both averaging 74.33 strokes this year.
