Owls Capture Pair of Titles at Solinco Houston Open

Stephanie Nguyen capped off an unbeaten weekend of action by capturing the third flight singles title and teaming with Solomiya Zinko to take the second flight doubles title at the Solinco Houston Open on Sunday at the University of Houston.
Nguyen defeated a pair of opponents from SMU in the finals.
She dispatched Holly Verner of SMU, 6-2, 6-3 in her singles finale and the combined with Zinko to take an 8-5 decision over the Mustangs' Yana Erkeeva and Dasha Sharapova in the doubles final.
Zinko also picked up a singles win on Sunday, dropping Sasha Khadzhyan of St. Edwards the second flight consolation final. 6-2 6-2.
The full Rice women's team will be back in action next weekend when they host their own fall invitational, Friday through Sunday.
