Owls Wrap Up Midland Invite Play on Saturday

The Rice Owls contingent at the Midland Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational could not build on their early success, dropping all of their matches on Saturday to bring their first weekend of competition to a close.
Dominique Harmath, who was the fifth seed in singles, fell to Stefanie Tan - TCU 6-3, 6-2, while Katie Gater dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Kenna Kilgo of Texas Tech.
Harmath and Natalie Beazant started strong in their doubles match against top-seeded Khunpak Issara and Lorraine Guillermo of Pepperdine, taking an early 4-1 lead before falling, 8-4.
The Owls will be back in action next weekend when they send a contingent of players to the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, September 23-25.
