"This was a hard fought game and Coach (Todd) Dodge is to be commended on how he turned North Texas around. We were able to make some plays in all three phases of the game.
"Our special teas blocked a punt, we made some long field goals and did well returning the football. Our defensive front was outstanding. They did a good job of clogging the passing lanes and making it difficult for North Texas to pass the ball. Offensively, we made just enough plays to get out of here with our first victory of the season.
"Going forward we must get better in some areas. We connected on field goals, but we need to get the ball in the end zone more consistently. The good thing about tonight is our kids never quit. They kept plugging away for this win."
