IRVING - Julie Chao is one of six players to earn Conference USA All-Academic Team honors Wednesday afternoon as announced by the league office.
Chao, the reigning C-USA Freshman of the Year, is an economic major that sports a 3.60 GPA. The San Diego product has racked up a 20-9 singles record and secured Rice's 4-3 win at Alabama (Feb. 10) with a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 (1) win. She also led the Owls (16-4) in wins over then-No. 75 Jacksonville (Feb. 3) and No. 69 Cal State Northridge (March 2) en route to the program's best regular season record since 1983.
