Karas Notches C-USA Co-Player of the Week

IRVING - Dominique Karas picked up Conference USA Co-Player of the Week honors Tuesday afternoon as announced by the league office. It is the first weekly award for Karas.
The Nova Scotia product tallied an undefeated singles week as the Rice went 2-1 with its lone setback coming at No. 26 Texas last week.
Karas won all three of her singles matches in straight sets, including a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 3 over Texas' Courtney Zauft. She also turned away a 5-3 deficit in the second set and emerged in a tiebreaker against Katherin Lange of Northwestern State.
Karas teamed up with Julie Chao as Rice's top doubles team for a 2-1 week.
The Owls welcome a pair of Southland opponents taking on Sam Houston State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this weekend. First serve against the Bearkats is set for Friday at 3pm.
