
Nwagwu Wins High Jump, Qualifies for Regionals

Senior Flo Nwagwu cleared a season-best 1.75 meters/5-8.75 to win the high jump Saturday at the Houston Invitational and qualify for the NCAA regional meet at Austin later this month.
Nwagwu, who was also a regional-qualifier last year, cleared the winning height on her second attempt before taking three tries at 1.80/5-10.75. Danille Prime was third at 1.70/5-7.
The Owls also took gold on the track as Lennie Waite was an easy victor in the 800-meters, clocking 2:15.52. Lauren Murphy was fourth in the 1500 at 4:45.96.
Rice travels to El Paso Thursday for the Conference USA championships.
