
Friendly, Green Pace Owls at Weekends Meets

HOUSTON – The Rice women's track and field team had a great final weekend of competition at the Cameron Burrell Invite at Houston and the Texas A&M Alumni Muster. The Owls will now prepare for the AAC Championships.
Heidi Nielson led the Owls on the track at Houston, finishing second in the 1500m with a time of 4:32.34.
Alice Taylor and Addison Zamzow went 1-2 in the javelin, finishing with throws of 37.45m and 35.05m.
Alexis Tarlue was second in the long jump, with a distance of 5.20m. Elena Siemens finished seventh in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.70m.
Over at Texas A&M, several personal bests on the track highlighted a great day of competition. Saniya Friendly moved into the Rice all-time list with a time of 11.55s in the 100m, ranking ninth at Rice.
Riana Green also set a personal best in the 200m, finishing with a time of 23.60m to rank seventh all-time at Rice.
Alice Taylor set a season best in the high jump, clearing 1.82m to finish third in the event.
Mckyla Van der Westhuizen claimed the javelin event title, finishing with a throw of 54.73m.
