Johannesdottir’s School Record Leads Owls in California

LONG BEACH – The Rice women's track and field team had a great weekend of competition across several meets at Long Beach, Bryan Clay and Tom Tellez Invites.
Julia Johannesdottir led the way at Long Beach, setting a personal best mark in the 100m hurdles for a third consecutive meet, this time with a 13.02s, ranking 13th in the nation. The mark breaks her own school record of 13.41s, which was set at the Victor Lopez Classic.
Josie Taylor claimed the high jump at Long Beach off a season-best clearance of 1.82m. Alice Taylor was right behind in second with a clearance of 1.79m
Mckyla Van der Westhuizen claimed another javelin title, her third of the season, with a throw of 54.61m.
Riana Green added a third-place showing in the 400m with a time of 53.50, while Arayna Mickles finished eighth with a time of 54.19s.
