MIDLAND, Texas -- After a day in which he competed in four matches, Rice senior Jason Mok was knocked out of the Midland Collegiate Invitational on Saturday in Midland, Texas.
Mok squared off with No. 87 Bojan Szumanski of Texas Tech in the main draw singles quarterfinals, but the Red Raider held the upper hand, taking a 7-5, 6-4 decision. Also in singles, Christoph Müller fell to SMU's Alex Skrypko 6-3, 6-2 in the consolation draw quarterfinals.
In main draw doubles action, Mok and Müller lost 8-5 to the Mustangs' Skrypko and Federico Murgier in the quarterfinals.
The Owls rejoin their teammates next weekend for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's South-Central Regional Championships in Fort Worth, Oct. 21-24.
