Men's Tennis: Rice Stopped By #46 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio Despite taking four matches to three sets, the Rice men fell short of their upset bid at 46th-ranked Ohio State, losing 4-2.
Senior Kevin Hargrove and freshman Matthias Mathaes joined forces to grab an 8-5 victory at number two doubles, but the Buckeyes won at one and three to claim the first point of the match.
Freshman Alexis Pourchet split the first two sets of his match at number three singles before rallying in the third to hand Phil Metz a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 loss. Prakash Venkataraman, a sophomore, posted similar results with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory at over Vincent Ng at number four.
The Owls, now 13-8 on the year, next travel to College Station to face Texas A&M Tuesday at 5 pm.
