Matt Ellis joined the Owls in the summer of 2024 as a defensive analyst, returning to his hometown after playing at Rhodes College from 2013-16 before beginning his coaching career.
Ellis broke into coaching at Milikin University in 2018, coaching the defensive backs before expanding his role as special teams coordinator in 2019.
He served in both roles at Benedictine University from 2020-21 and at UW-Oshkosh from 2022-24.
