Rice -- 2012: Set a new career-high for starts (15)... Played in 30 games overall... Was second on the team for entering a game as a defensive substitute (15 times)... All but one of his appearances (either starting or as a sub) were as a catcher... Entered one game as a pinch hitter (against Tennessee for Craig Manuel) before then remaining in the game to catch... Hit .333 (7-for-21) in the second half of the season, including .316 against Conference USA competition... Batted .455 (5-for-11) in games against ranked opponents... Went 1-for-3 with a double in the home NCAA Regional, but was 7-for-18 (.389) when hitting away from Reckling Park... Threw out seven runners attempting to seal and picked-off one with a snap-throw... Tallied a season-high 11 put outs against Southern Miss... Starting catcher for Austin Kubitza (three times), Andrew Benak (three times), Matthew Reckling (three times), Jordan Stephens (twice), John Simms (twice), Zech Lemond and Chase McDowell... 2011: Doubled his playing time and increased production in second season with the program...
