2025: Ticketed to be a two-way player and made six starts in the outfield and nine relief appearances in a season interrupted by injuries… In the starting lineup on Opening Day against Villanova on 2/16 at the Puerto Rico Baseball Challenge in Ponce, Puerto Rico was 1x4 with a single and run scored… Also started in the outfield vs. Michigan in Ponce and made his debut on the mound in the final game of the weekend vs. Virginia… Doubled in four at-bats with an RBI and a run vs. Tennessee on 3/1… Made a total of five starts in the outfield and one as the DH vs. Yale on 3/7, his last start of the year… Returned to the mound vs. Houston on 4/8 and worked 0.2 scoreless… Stranded his first five inherited runners… Stranded a pair vs. Houston on 4/15 with a pair of strikeouts and a fly out… Worked out of a bases-loaded, none-out jam at Memphis on 4/17 with a strikeout and double play to preserve a 7-5 lead, which Rice increased to 10-5 and gave David Pierce his 500th career coaching win… Struck out six in his first 4.1 innings… Earned his first career win in the opener vs. Wichita State, working a scoreless top of the 13th before Treyton Rank’s walk-off homer in the bottom of the inning.
Prior to Rice: Transferred to Rice from the College of Central Florida where he both pitched and played first base and was a teammate of fellow Rice newcomer Gunnett Carlson... Was 1-0 in four starts on the mound with a 5.54 ERA and 1.46 WHIP (13.0, 12, 10, 8, 7, 15) and hit .256 with six homers and 19 RBI in 33 games as a sophomore... Was 1-0 with a 5.63 ERA and 19 Ks in 16 innings over 12 relief outings as a freshman as the Patriots captured the 2023 NJCAA Division 1 National Championship… Hit .333 with two RBI in the national tournament. Prepped at Episcopal School in Jacksonville, Florida for coach Mike Jones and hit .319 as a senior while posting a 2.93 ERA as the Eagles won the district title in his senior year… Two-time FCSAA All-Academic Team. Selection… Two of his three sisters played sports at the intercollegiate level: Kamryn (Stetson softball 2021-present) and Brittany (Jacksonville softball 2009-2011) while his father (Roy) played baseball at Florida State and his mother (Kasse) played both volleyball and softball at North Florida.
