Indoor: Saw action at three meets…ran a season-best 3k time of 8:36.50 at the Houston G5-Super 22 Invitational…recorded a season-best 5k time of 14:56.3 at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in which he placed fourth overall.

Cross Country: Competed in five races...earned C-USA All-Conference Third Team honors with a 21st place finish at the C-USA Championships...placed 41st at the NCAA South Central Regional...was 11th at the season-opening Rice Invitational. Indoor: Finished 13th and 16th, respectively, in the 5000m and 3000m at the C-USA Championships. Outdoor: Won the 3000m steeplechase race at the Texas A&M Invitational...also finished second in the steeplechase at both the J. Fred Duckett Twilight and the Victor Lopez Classic...earned points with a seventh place finish in the steeplechase at the C-USA Championships.
2017-18
Cross Country: Competed in five races, highlighted by a 25th place finish at the C-USA Championships. Indoor: Throughout the indoor season, Carvalho competed three times and finished in the Top 10 twice....at the Houston Invitational, finished fifth in the 3000m in 8:42.15, a new personal best...finished fourth in the 5,000m at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in another new personal best of 14:56.13, which was also his first time running under 15:00 for 5,000m...at the C-USA Indoor Championships, finished 15th in the 5,000m in 15:38.32.
