Tied for second on the team with six pass breakups… Saw action in 11 games and made one start (Army)… Credited with four tackles vs. Wake Forest and matched that with four vs. Southern Miss… Broke up a career-high three passes vs. LA Tech and added a pair in the finale at UTEP... Named to the Austin American Statesman's All-Decade team of area high school products.
2018
C-USA All-Freshman selection by conference coaches and winner of the 2019 Joe F. Lipscomb Award as the Owls top freshman... Started the last eight games and finished with 39 tackles... Led the Owls with four interceptions (9th in C-USA at end of the regular season)and 11 passes defended (also 9th in C-USA). Generated at least one turnover in three of the last four games (three interceptions and one fumble recovery... Picked off a pair of passes near the goal line at LA Tech, returning them for 62 yards, becoming the first Owl to have multiple interceptions in a game since Bryce Callahan against Kansas in 2012... Four interceptions are the most by an Owl since Phillip Gaines had four in 2013 and one away from moving into a seven-way tie for 8th on the Rice season list... The first Rice freshman to have multiple interceptions in a season since current Chicago Bear Bryce Callahan had six as a redshirt freshman in 2011... Tied for the team lead with a career-best eight tackles at FIU, including one for a two-yard loss... Picked off his first career pass vs. UAB... Credited with four tackles at Hawai'i and followed that with three at Southern Miss.
San Marcos High School
Three-year starter and District 15-6A Offensive MVP as a senior in his first year at quarterback for coach Mark Soto, leading Rattlers to their first district title since 2003... Finished the season with 3,039 yards of total offense, including 1,777 on the ground with 27 touchdowns and a 10.1 yards per carry average... All-District selection as a junior as a defensive back and was credited with 160 tackles in two seasons along with four interceptions in his career...
