Jackson Named to Wuerffel and Hornung Watch Lists

Recognized for achievements on and off the field
Houston - Quinton Jackson has been named to two additional watch lists heading into the 2026 football season.
Jackson was named to the 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy preseason list in addition to the 2006 Paul Hornung Award watch list. This marks the second consecutive season Jackson has been named to the Hornung Award watch list.
Jackson is one of 113 nominees for the Wuerffel Trophy, which annually recognizes student-athletes who use their platforms to serve others and make a positive impact in their communities. He is one of 39 players on this year's preseason list for the Hornung Award, which is in its 17th year of recognizing the most versatile player in major college football in memory of the late football legend Paul Hornung.
On the field, Jackson was named the Owls' MVP in 2025 after leading the team in rushing (889 yards), all-purpose yards (1,225), and kickoff returns (262), and tying for the team lead with seven touchdowns. He ranked seventh in the conference in rushing, and his 889 yards were the most on the ground by an Owl since Jowan Davis ran for 956 in 2014. He topped 100 yards three times, including a career-high 168 in addition to four touchdowns, and 248 all-purpose yards while leading Rice to a 37-34 overtime win over UConn.
Off the gridiron, he has lent his time and energy to Hermann Park Volunteer Landscaping, Meals on Wheels, MD Anderson's AYA Football Field Day for Cancer Patients, as well as packing meals at Kids Meals in Houston.
The Owls open the 2026 season on September 5 when they host HCU to Rice Stadium at 6 p.m.
