Boandl Named American Golfer of the Week

HOUSTON — Rice senior golfer Lukas Boandl was named the American Conference Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.
Boandl tied for fifth-place at the Mossy Oak Intercollegiate, finishing at -5. He opened the tournament with a 73, before firing a 65, the best round in the tournament. He closed with a 73. His second round was just the fourth round of -7 or better in school history, but the third for Boandl.
The 65 tied his career-low and was the second-best round in school history. It was his 11th round in the 60's this year, tying the school record for most in a season, and the 25th of his career. It was also his team-leading 21st round of par or better, and the 59th of his career. He finished the tournament 9-1-1 against Top 100 players.
The Men's Golf team begins postseason play, Apr. 27-29, when it travels to Sarasota, Fla., for the American Championship.
