HOUSTON — The Rice women's tennis team will host UAB on Monday in its regular-season finale.
No. 54 Rice is 13-6 overall and 6-2 against conference opponents. The Owls are coming off a 2-0 homestand, defeating South Florida and Florida International. Rice earned a 4-1 win over South Florida on Senior Day before closing the weekend with another 4-1 victory against FIU.
In the latest ITA rankings, Rice is No. 54 as a team. The doubles pair of Uma Bakaityte and Darya Schwartzman is also ranked No. 54 nationally.
The Owls last faced UAB in 2010, earning a 7-0 victory at home.
Following Monday's match, Rice will host the American Conference Championship. The tournament begins Thursday and runs through Sunday.
Rice is one of three American teams ranked in the ITA top 75. Wichita State leads the conference at No. 28, followed by Charlotte at No. 32 and Rice at No. 54.
Last week, Rice swept the conference's weekly honors. Divna Ratkovic was named the American Conference women's player of the week, while Petro Kuzmenok earned the men's award.
