HOUSTON – The Rice women's tennis team will travel to San Diego this weekend to compete in ITA College Tennis Weekend.

Rice enters the weekend 10-5 overall and 4-1 on the road. The Owls went 2-0 last weekend, defeating Tulsa 7-0 and Louisiana Tech 4-0. Uma Bakaityte was named the American Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday after posting a 4-0 record across the two matches.

Rice opens the weekend against UC San Diego in the first meeting between the two programs. The Owls will close the weekend against San Diego on Saturday. Rice won the only previous meeting between the teams, earning a 6-1 road victory in 2007.

The matches are part of ITA College Tennis Weekend, an initiative where programs host activities and events designed to increase attendance and encourage community engagement during home matches.
