Rice to Host Louisiana Tech in WBIT

HOUSTON – For the 17th time in program history, the Rice women's basketball team will play postseason basketball when they host Louisiana Tech in the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) on Thursday, March 19, at Tudor Fieldhouse.
The Owls were the automatic qualifier for the WBIT as the American Conference regular-season champions.
Rice enters the WBIT with a 28-5 record, tied for the most wins in a single season in program history. The Owls had a 17-1 mark in the American Conference, earning their fifth regular-season title in program history.
This marks the third postseason appearance under Shelley Pennington and Friends Head Coach Lindsay Edmonds, having appeared in the WNIT (2023) and NCAA Tournament (2024).
The Lady Techsters enter at a 26-6 mark, earning the CUSA automatic qualifying bid after a 17-1 conference mark to claim the CUSA regular season title. Louisiana Tech fell to Missouri State in the CUSA championship game.
The two long-time foes will meet for the 34th time in the series history, with the Lady Techsters holding a slim 17-16 series lead. Rice holds an 11-4 mark in games at Tudor Fieldhouse.
