Series finale vs. USC at 2:05 Sundaty
Los Angeles-For the second time in as many nights, USC's pitching held Rice in check while the Trojans found just enough offense as the hosts defeated the Owls 4-1 to clinch their first-ever series in Los Angeles.
How it Happened: USC scratched out single runs in the third and fourth innings and added two in the fifth before reliever Ethan Atchley came on and held them hitless over the remainder of the game. The Owls struck back in the seventh when JC Davis reached for the second of three times in the game with a leadoff walk. He moved to second on a sacrifice came home on a single off the shortstop's glove by Mason Ashlock. Michael Zito, who had walked as a pinch hitter following Davis, moved to second on Ashlock's single, and advanced to third as pinch hitter Garet Boehm loaded the bases with Rice's third walk of the inning. However, the Owls' hopes of closing the gap further ended with a pair of strikeouts.
Next Up: Rice and USC will close the series at 2:05 on Sunday. The Owls return to Reckling next Tuesday to host HCU at 6:35.
