FORT WORTH – The Rice women's tennis team fell 0-4 to TCU on Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs secured the doubles point when, Daniela Chica and Ema Mravcova were defeated 6-2 by Cayetana Gay and Tomi Main on court three. Raq Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson clinched the point with a 6-2 win over Fernanda Martinez and Francesca Maguina. On court one, Darya Schwartzman and Uma Bakaityte were tied 4-4 against Victo Gomez O'Hayon and Yu-Chin Tsai when doubles play was stopped.

TCU added three singles victories to clinch the match. Yu-Chin Tsai defeated Maguina 6-2, 6-4 on court six, followed by O'Hayon's 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win over Bakaityte. Cristi Ramos Sierra sealed the result with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory against Nithesa Selvaraj.

Several singles matches were left unfinished. Schwartzman was leading 5-2 in the third set on court one after splitting the first two sets, 6-4, 3-6. Divna Ratkovic held a 4-1 advantage in the third set on court three following set scores of 2-6 and 6-4. Martinez was tied 4-4 with Gay on court five after a delayed start.

Rice continues road play next weekend, traveling to Waco to face Baylor on Feb. 6 followed by Washington on Feb. 7.
