Women’s Track Opens Indoor Season at Ted Nelson Invite

COLLEGE STATION – The Rice women's track and field team makes their 2026 season debut this weekend at the Ted Nelson Invite at Texas A&M.
All-Conference honorees from last season Saniya Friendly (60m) and Alice Taylor (high jump) lead the Owls for the first weekend of action.
Savannah Simms (triple jump/sprints) and Arayna Mickles (sprints) return to the track this weekend after missing last season due to injuries.
Several freshmen are set to make their collegiate debuts including Sydney Freeman and Alexandra Toney.
The Owls were selected fifth out of the 13 teams in the American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
