Trae Broadnax Named American Honorable Mention

HOUSTON — Rice graduate student guard Trae Broadnax was named American Conference Honorable Mention, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
It is his second honor this season, and the fourth of his career.
Broadnax led Rice to a 1-1 record on the week, averaging a team-high 21.5 points and 4.0 assists, while adding 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals. He began the week scoring a season-high 22 points, including 18 in the second half, and grabbing three rebounds to lead Rice to a 66-64 victory at Wichita State, its first-ever victory at WSU.
He followed that by scoring 21 points, including 17 in the second half, adding a season-high seven assists, and pulling down four rebounds against Charlotte.
It's the first time in his career with back-to-back 20 point games. On the week, Broadnax shot 47.1% from the floor, and 75.0% from the free throw line.
Rice goes on the road this Wednesday, Jan. 14, when it travels to San Antonio to face UTSA. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be streamed by ESPN+.
