HOUSTON — The second season Rob Lanier era began this afternoon as Rice held its first official basketball practice of the 2025-26 season.
The Owls returns seven letterwinners from last year's squad, including starter and fifth-year senior Trae Broadnax, who led the team with a 12.1 points per game.
"It does feel like a new team, but not as much if we didn't have the opportunity for the practices and the trip we had this summer," said Lanier. "But I'm excited. It does signify the start of the season, so that's really exciting."
Rice begins the 2025-26 campaign on Nov. 4 when it hosts the College of Biblical Studies.
