Francesca Maguina to Compete With Peru in Billie Jean King Cup

HOUSTON - Rice women's tennis sophomore Francesca Maguina has been named to the Peru National Team that will take part in the Billie Jean King Cup, known as The World Cup of Tennis, from June 18 to June 21.
Maguina will be joined by Daniela Gonzales, Danna Guzman, Yleymi Muelle, and Lucciana Perez in the BJK Cup.
Peru is situated in the Billie Jean King Cup's Group II Americas, where they will battle against a pool of Barbados, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, and Puerto Rico.
Group events are week-long played at one location. Each Group is initially split into round-robin pools, with play-offs then deciding promotion and relegation. The exact format of each Group varies according to the number of participating teams.
Peru will host the tournament at the Federación Deportiva Peruana de Tenis. The top two nations will be promoted to Group I, while the final two nations will be relegated to Group III.
