Post Meet Reaction - Head Coach Jon Warren
"The steeplechase went very well for us today, and even brought some surprises too. Gus ran a fantastic race and finished second to an extremely good runner. Andrew Murray also ran a solid race for us to grab some more points with a fifth-place finish. The surprise goes to Brandon Martz, who ran a great personal best to snag a point in eighth. Really proud of his race tonight and of all the steeple runners. It was wonderful to get three guys to score in the event. We grabbed more points out of the shot put with Daniel Sowell in sixth and Sultan Bakare in eighth. We have several moving on to tomorrow's finals, Drayden Dickmann, Christian Edgar, and Evan Ringwald, and I can't wait to see what they can do tomorrow. There were also several athletes who just missed the cut, finishing in ninth and tenth. I am really excited to see what we can do tomorrow. We have guys running in four finals and also in the relays and 5000m. Over in the field events, I am hoping for some big performances out of the high jump, pole vault and in the discus. Tomorrow should be a great day of competition not only for Rice, but for track and field as a whole."
