COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 39th-ranked Rice Owls women's tennis team opens play in the College Station Regional as the three seed, facing off against 32nd-ranked and second-seeded UC Santa Barbara from the Mitchell Tennis Center. The match has been moved up to a 10 a.m. start.
Rice enters with a 17-6 record, bowing out of the semifinals in the American Athletic Conference Championship by a score of 4-2 to the host Memphis Tigers. The Owls earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament thanks to an impressive record and top-40 ITA ranking.
UCSB enters with a 16-8 record, taking down Long Beach State and Cal Poly in the Big West Championship to win its third Big West title in five years.
