Tulane Series Opens on Friday

First games in New Orleans for Rice since 2014.
OWLS HEAD TO NEW ORLEANS FOR WEEK THREE OF AAC PLAY:  Rice returns to New Orleans for the first time since 2014 for a three-game AAC series against Tulane.   The series opens on Friday at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 6:30 first pitch on Saturday and then wraps the series on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.  The Owls will remain on the road for their lone midweek game next week,  facing Houston next Tuesday in the second game of the Silver Glove Series.

MEMORY LANE: This weekend's series in New Orleans completes a pair of road stops that have taken Bixby Family Head Baseball coach David Pierce back to the two schools where he began his head coaching career (Sam Houston & Tulane). Pierce opened the week with a 9-1 win at Sam Houston State, where he began his head coaching in 2012. He was named the 23rd head baseball coach at Tulane on June 8, 2014, and posted a 76-46 mark in two seasons. Pierce is 0-1 in his career as a head coach when facing Tulane. The Green Wave defeated Pierce and Sam Houston State 2-0 on 2/15/13 in their season opener at the Texas State Tournament in San Marcos, Texas
RICE AND TULANE:
UP NEXT: Rice will remain on the road for its only midweek game next week, taking on Houston in the second game of the 2025 Silver Glove Series before returning home to host South Florida next weekend.

- Rice leads the overall series 31-10, including a 17-7 record in New Orleans (10-2 vs. Tulane at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium).
- Rice is 10-4 overall at Turchin Stadium, including a 0-2 record in the 2008 C-USA Championship.
- Bixby Family Head Baseball Coach David Pierce was 76-46 in two seasons as the head coach of the Green Wave (2015 & 2016), including a 44-10 record at home.
- The Owls swept the most recent series in New Orleans (in 2014) in New Orleans and bring a four-game winning streak at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium into the weekend.
- The schools have met 38 times in the regular season (Rice leads 30-8), 30 times in conference games (Rice leads 24-6), 11 times in non-conference games (Rice leads 7-4) and three times in postseason play (Tulane leads 2-1 after winning the 2005 Super Regional in New Orleans and advance to the College World Series.)
