HOUSTON - The 72nd-ranked Rice Owls men's tennis team will conclude the 2024-25 regular season with a match against the UAB Blazers on Sunday afternoon from the Hoover Met Tennis Center. Action is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
Rice is ranked 72nd in this week's ITA computer rankings and brings in a 12-9 record. Most recently, the Owls won its 25th team title in the Ralph O'Connor Rice Invitational with a 1-1 weekend, taking down Charlotte but narrowly falling to UTSA. UAB is 8-11, but will take on Jacksonville State on Saturday before meeting with the Owls.
Rice leads the overall series with the Blazers, 8-2. After falling in the first meeting in 2002, the Owls won seven-straight matches, but UAB got the better of Rice in 2023's match at home. This will be the first time since that 2002 match that the Owls and Blazers will meet in Alabama.
Currently, Rice is trying to secure a top-three seed to the AAC Championship in Memphis, meaning the Owls would not have to play until the second round on Friday.
As of now, UAB has not announced any plans for live stats or live video. Stay tuned to RiceOwls.com for updates.
