HOUSTON – Petro Kuzmenok advanced to the semifinals in singles and doubles, teaming with Tommy Czaplinski in doubles, at the American Individual Championship on Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
In doubles, top-seeded Kuzmenok and Czaplinski defeated Florida Atlantic's Jose David Segovia and Lucca Pignaton 8-7. The duo will face No. 5 seed Pablo Alcaya and Rodrigo Cruz of Wichita State at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Kuzmenok, the No. 1 seed in singles, followed with a 7-6, 6-1 quarterfinal win over No. 9 seed James Newton of South Florida. He will face No. 4 seed Victor Tosetto of Tulsa at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
